  1. I don’t think I would like to be an adult at age 12. Becoming an adult comes with some responsibilities I would not be ready to handle yet. I would be able to vote, but I don’t completely understand politics and that would be costly for our country. Also I would be able to drink and smoke which is not something I would want to do at a young age, but peer pressure would probably make it. I would lose my childhood. I would be treated differently and some of the things I like to do now may not be acceptable to do as an adult. Although the idea of making money at a young age does sound good, it would be hard to gain a good paying job with the education of a 12 year old. Although I do want to be come an adult I would not be ready by the age of 12.

  2. If I had the choice of being considered an adult at the age of 12, I wouldn't like it or do it. There is both positives and negatives to this clause. You can gain many things including the acknowledgement of others, you can be recognized as a reliable person, and earn more rights and freedom to more things; like the rights to not be controlled by your parents, and the right to be independent. On the other hand, you might lose many things as well. Things you might lose include, the last parts of your childhood, the right to be more dependent and relying on parents, more time to hang out and fool around like kids, and much more.

  3. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at age twelve, I would not do it. By doing this, I would gain and lose things. I would gain the ability to enjoy my childhood for a little longer. If I were to become an adult at twelve years old, I would miss out on a couple more years to be a kid, and that does not sound thrilling. Adults have much more daunting responsibilities than children, and I do not think twelve year olds are prepared for that. Also by choosing to not be considered an adult at age twelve, I gain the ability to prepare a little more for my adulthood. If I were to become an adult at twelve, I would not have as much experience in different fields of work as I would if I became an adult at a later age. More experience could mean I would get a good job and perform better. There are loses as well. One major loss that would occur if I were to become an adult at twelve is that I would lose a lot of my friends. Many kids probably would choose to become an adult at twelve, and there would not be as many twelve year olds as kids. Also, I would lose the ability to get the job that is most suitable for me. As time increases, there would be less and less jobs. Kids who choose to become adults at twelve would be more likely to get great jobs, while kids who would choose to wait on adulthood, like me, might get the unwanted jobs. Overall, the choice to be considered an adult at age twelve is a big decision that has its pros and cons.

  4. If I could be considered an adult at age twelve, I would reject the offer. I would have the opportunity to go to college, live on my own, and make my own decisions. This would mean, if I felt I was ready, I could do everything for myself. I wouldn't be subject to the "our roof, our rules" mantra of my parents. I would be glad to have these benefits at such a young age.
However, these reasons are the same reasons I would not want to be considered an adult at age twelve. I don't want to have to provide for myself yet. I don't want to drive myself to field hockey practice, I don't want to get a job yet, and I definitely don't want to be responsible for the income to take care of myself. I'm perfectly content with abiding by a few rules in order to avoid all that for a few more years. Therefore, there is no way I would want to be considered an adult before I've even become a teen.

  5. If I had the choice to become an adult at age 12 there would be many things to gain, yet at the same time lose. Something you get is more freedom. Becoming an adult gives you the freedom to do whatever you would like. This also comes with the lose of having a lot of responsibility. Responsibility can be fun, but as an adult you may get a lot more than usual which can be stressful. These are 2 examples of the amazing gains and down sides to being an adult at 12.

  6. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at age 12, I would not do it. You would gain many responsibilities that 12 year olds simply aren't ready for. Most 12 year olds don't know how to cook anything besides Ramen (maybe), or fold laundry, two very important things that come with being an adult. Also, as an adult, I would have to juggle work, family, friends, and money all the time. I would have to pay bills and CLEAN MY OWN HOUSE. I can barely organize my locker so I can't even begin to fathom how I would clean up all my messes especially in something like a 1200 square foot apartment.
I don't know that there would be anything gained by becoming an adult at 12. Maybe the fact that I could shop for my own groceries is pretty cool, but I wouldn't be responsible and would end up buying a lot of junk food.
I need a lot more time then 12 years to have the responsibilities of an adult. In fact, 18 is probably good. That gives me like five years to collect myself and mature. It's kind of funny to imagine myself living on my own. I would probably forget to turn off the stove and my house would end up in flames. 18 years sounds good.

  7. By the age of 12 i would not want to be considered an adult. All kids want to be an adult, but if you really think about it you are an adult till the day you die and you are only a child for so long. There are a lot of responsibilities that go along with being an adult. For example living on your own, having a career, or even taking care of children of your own. I feel that at the age of 12 you are in no way ready to do any of these things. People will think and say that they are but in reality they are not ready. Along with the new responsibilities also come things that are no longer acceptable for you to do. For example, you can no longer get away without paying attention in school or at work, you can no longer depend on you parents to buy you everything, and you also can’t no work. You have bills and things to pay and there is just no getting around these things. I am working to be ready for adulthood but i do not feel that I am worthy of adulthood.

  8. If I had a choice to be looked at as an adult at age 12, I wouldn't because after I weigh all the pros and cons out, it still does not sound like a good idea. The pros are that you will be looked at as an equal by other adults. You also gain certain privileges from this like watching R-rated movies and driving. But also, you can get responsibilities that people that are 12 shouldn't be taking on. For example, maybe watching a little kid or using a credit card. These responsibilities can be abused by little kids. In the end, I don't think that it would be beneficial to be looked at as an adult at age 12.

  9. If I had a choice to be considered an adult by 12 I would not take it. Your childhood would be over. Also you would have to take responsibility for your actions when you’re still very young and might not even understand everything. Also there would be some positives to being considered an adult when you are 12. Like you can do things on your own, so you don’t have to depend on anyone else. Also people will start to take you seriously instead of treating you like a child.

  10. If I was 12 I would want to stay a kid. I say that because being an adult requires a lot of responsibility. I would want things to be easy because adults play taxes and bills. It would suck to be an adult at 12. I want to stay a kid because YOLO.

  12. I would make the choice of being considered an adult the age of twelve. I think it would be pretty beneficial towards someone like me because i love driving and if you're an adult at the age of twelve, I could drive. This may be fun for me;however, I don't think it would be too good for the other drivers around me. Along with such a benefit, a drawback also comes with the adult age of being twelve. For instance, when you're twelve, you clearly understand the concepts of multiplying and other such computations. With adulthood also comes bills, insurance, and gas money. All these things, we leave our parents to figure out. If the adult age is twelve, Id have a pretty tough time figuring out how all that works. Therefore, I think the drawbacks outweigh the benefits of the adult age being 12. So to follow that up, I do not think the considered "adult age' should be 12, although I want it to be, I don't think it should be.

  13. I would not like to be an adult at age 12. Their are still things I need to learn. The good thing about it is I would become independent, and I would learn how to work. The bad thing is I am not ready to become independent. I still ask for things from my mom and dad. I would have to go to school and work, so it would take up all my time. I know I would get training durning school. I would not be able to keep up with my grades and my work.

  14. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at the age of 12, I would not do it. If I became an adult at age 12, I wouldn't get to have as much fun with my friends. Things would be harder, specific privileges would be taken away, and more responsibilities would be thrown at you. People would expect more from you. If I chose not to be considered an adult at age 12, I would still be able to crack jokes with my friends, have fun with not a lot expected from you, and would not have to work like an adult would have to. This is why I wouldn't want to be considered an adult by the age of 12.

  15. If I had the choice to be considered an adult once I turn 12 I would not take it. I feel that I still have a lot of growing up to do and having an important job in the community would not be good. I can also be immature at times and so if I was considered an adult, they would expect me to be very mature and sophisticated. The pro of that situation however is that I would be respected and my opinion wouldn't be taken lightly, as someone would do to a kid. The cons would be that I would not have gotten to embrace all of my childhood.

  16. I wouldn't like to be considered an adult at 12 because I wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility then, and I'm probably still not ready. Humans are not like animals, we need more time nurture with parents. Having 12 year old adults would make our world really bad. A gain though would not having to have your parents make you do annoying things like cutting your hair or doing meaningless choirs. Though, you would lose times of school and experience before you leave your parents. And from what I see of adulthood is that it's really hard and not too much fun, so you'd be leaving 5-6 years of regular teenage tomfoolery just to gain freedom.

  17. I would not want to become an adult at age 12. I feel like 12 is such a young age and I was so immature then. But if I did become an adult at age 12, I would gain more freedom and more rights. I would also be able to get a job and make my own money. But I would also loose 6 years of childhood and being a teenager. I think it's strange to go from being a child straight to an adult. Therefore, I would not want to become an adult at age 12.

  18. If I had that choice I would decline it because your childhood is the best part of tour life. The bad parts about being an adult at age 12 include having too many responsibilities and no free time to do whatever. Your childhood is the only part of your life where you don't have to work. It is best to enjoy it because you will have to work from adulthood to being elderly. When your elderly there is less to do with free time then as a child. However, I would gain a lot of responsibility being considered an adult at 12, which some people might want. Also, you would be able to sort of control your life on your own. That ties into my other reason, and some people like that lifestyle.

  19. If could be considered an adult at twelve I wouldn't do it. If I did this some things that I would be given more freedom. For example as kids you don't have very much freedom, and you are given a lot more freedom as an adult. Another thing that you would gain is that you would most likely be able to adult things such as driving at a much younger age. Some loses you would receive from this are that you would be expected to at a lot older than you really are. Another is that you would be given more responsibility than you would probably be able to handle. As a conclusion i would not want to be considered an adult at twelve.

  20. If I had the choice to be an adult at age 12 I would chose not to be an adult for many reasons. If I were to be an adult I would lose a lot of my childhood. As a child you really don't have to do a lot of work financially. When you get to being an adult you are held with a lot of responsibilities. These responsibilities include paying your taxes on time, buying a house, using your money well and a lot more. As a child you just have to do what your parents ask you to do and do well in school. As soon as you hit adulthood life starts to change. You have a lot more responsibilities which can be a lot to some people. You have to manage them well. If I were to be an adult at age 12 the good things would be that you get an earlier start at life. When you are an adult you are going to have to do what all adults do, so why not get an early start in life and when time comes you already know how to do it. Those are the pros and cons about being considered an adult at age 12.

  21. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at 12, I would not do it. At 12 I would have little knowledge and work might be harder. Adults have a lot of responsibilties and a 12 year old child might not be able to handle them. I would be able to hang out with my friends. They would be busy with their own lives now that they are adults. I would have to forsake my childhood to work and earn money.

  22. I would love to be considered as an adult at the age of 12. It gives me extra privileges like moving out and making my own choices. It also comes with its own drawbacks. The cons are that you have to take up a job and move out at such an early age. You would gain independence, but lose the rest of your childhood.

  23. I don't think I would want to be considered an adult at twelve. I don't think I could handle all of the responsibilities of an adult yet. If I was considered an adult, and I had a job, I wouldn't have much time for my friends or spare time. If I was still a child at twelve, I could learn how to manage and learn the ways of an adult. Children twelve and under probably wouldn't focus on adults because they are children and don't really pay attention to that kind of stuff. But, if I was considered an adult, I could have more privileges and make decisions on my own. There are good and bad things about being considered an adult at twelve.
