  1. Yes I would, I'd gain independence, responsibility, and respect while losing a life where I can be a bit lazy. To be more responsible and have respect gives you an accomplished feeling and is worth losing some down-time.

  2. If I had the choice to be an adult when I was 12 I wouldn't do it because of all the responsibility. A 12 year old's responsibilities normally include getting schoolwork and chores done but adults have many more responsibilities like paying bills, working, buying necessities, and many more. Even though the responsibilities of being an adult are hefty there still are some advantages. If I was considered an adult at 12 I would have a lot more privileges. I wouldn't have to wait for things like driving and I wouldn't have to ask permission to go out or to do what i wanted. This seems like a major perk but with being an adult there isn't time. Most adults are at work all day. They don't have a chance to relax at all. With being an adult at 12 you would lose time which is a very valuable thing.

  3. If I had the choice of becoming an adult at the age of 12, I think i would accept. There would be both advantages and disadvantages to this situation. By becoming an adult early i would gain a great deal of maturity, wisdom, intelligence, independence and responsibility. Becoming an adult early will also stop children from being so immature and irrelevant. I would lose my childhood by becoming an adult early though. I would have to leave my family and go to college earlier. I will have to provide for myself and learn how to manage myself. I will no longer have my parents to guide me step by step. In conclusion when i think about it i would accept becoming an adult at 12 because it gives you more wisdom and independence.

  4. If I could be considered an adult at age 12, I wouldn't want to do it. At the age of 12, we barely understand ourselves, we wouldn't be ready to take part of an adult life. Experiencing child hood, and all the life's lessons is what molds us into adults. We wouldn't be ready to take on the responsibilities, we aren't fully matured yet. Doing this we would gain maturity and an extremely faster rate; not the appropriate rate. Doing this we would lose our childhood, and our young innocence because we would have to face adult responsibilities. This wouldn't be a healthy thing to do for a 12 year old since they need to experience life.

  5. The only reason I would do it is because I will be respected as an adult and continue my life as a mature person. But you will lose lots of things such as your childhood, the social class as a child, probably your friends. So I would not do it; you're losing too much. At this age your technically not ready or prepared to be considered an adult. Like I said before it is too much to lose.

  6. No I wouldn't because I wouldn't be able to take on the much responsibility. Being an adult is all about being responsible. You can't take on the chance when you're this young. You should be an adult when you are ready. You would gain the things that you can do when you are an adult. You could drive or own a house and do many cool things. But doing that at such a young age isn't good. You would lose your chance to be a teenager. You wouldn't have a teenage life if you become an adult at 12. Which could mean no high school or school dances and stuff like that. You would miss your chance to be a kid just to be an adult.

  7. I would not like to be considered an adult at 12 years old. Yes its great to be treated like an adult and not to be treated like a child, but there is time for that. I love being a kid. When you are young, you want to do things that kids do. You should enjoy your time being young while you can. Not as many responsibilities when you are young. No one should rush their lives. I'd want to be young forever, but well, that's not quite how it works. I would not want to be considered an adult at 12. I would want to wait until I was more mature and older to be an adult.

  8. I think I would like to be considered an adult at the age of 12. You would gain so many things as a 12 year old adult, but also lose a few childhood freedoms. First, you would gain respect as an adult. Everyone would look at you differently and kids would look up to you as a grown up. You would also gain trust from the people around you. Your parents would give you more responsibilities and could trust you with more information. Parents could also explain to you more complicated stuff like buying property, driving, etc. The last thing you would gain when being an adult at the age of 12 would be independence. You would finally be able to do things on your own instead of your parents doing them for you. You can grow and be successful as an independent adult. Things you could lose would be things like being able to be with all your friends. When you get a job, you usually aren't with your regular friend group and have to make new ones. Another loss you get is how people see you as. Adults expect many things from an adult and sometimes they can be hard. Overall I can say that I'd rather be an adult at 12!

  9. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at the age of 12, I would not want to be considered as an adult. I think that you would miss a large part of your life doing the work of an adult then being a normal kid. You would miss things in this period of time like for instance, becoming a teenager. You wouldn't have all of the different privileges that come with becoming a teen like getting your first phone, etc. Also, you wouldn't be able to make many memories because you are an adult and would have your own responsibilities to handle. Lastly, at this age you want to not need your parents anymore, and to be free and independent, but in a way you still need them.
Although there are many disadvantages to becoming an adult at the age of 12, there are some good things that come with it. One would be that you are able to be more independent and not have to listen to all of the things your parents tell you to do anymore. Another would be that you would be able to do more of the things you were longing to do as a child, and not need your parents permission. Sometimes it's annoying to have to ask for permission all the time, and it's the worst not be given permission to do different things. For instance, like hanging out with a friend. While considering all of these different factors, I would still choose to not be considered an adult at the age of 12.

  10. i would not be considered an adult at age 12. I would gain more freedoms and not as many responsibilities. I would loose a paying job, and being able to do more things, like drivng, voting, drinking, and doing what i want to.

  11. I would not want to be considered an adult at twelve years old. By the time you turn twelve, kids aren't as mature as by the time when we become adults at 18. When you become an adult, you are given many more responsibilities. Much more is expected of you then when you're younger. You wouldn't even be a teenager yet, and you'd already be considered an adult. I think twelve is much too young to start working, and be given so much trust at such a young age. You'd loose your ability to experience a full childhood. Twelve is way to young to be an adult.

  12. I had the choice of becoming an adult at 12 years old, I would not want to. Although I could probably drive and go places on my own, I would lose all the things i have right now. For example i would have to get a job and have to pay for all my own things. Right now, my parents do all of that and i don't want to loses that. There are more cons then pros to becoming an adult at the age of 12

  13. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at the age of 12, I would gain the right to vote, the right to have a full paying job and be able to purchase a house, and the right to have free will. I would lose about 6 years of my teenage years. Even though I have a lot of pros to this decisions and like this idea, I don't think I would be ready for. This because there is so much to gain in 6 years.

  14. In The Giver, adulthood starts at the age of 12. If I had to be considered an adult at age 12, that'd be both good and bad. It would be bad for two reasons. One reason is that you wouldn't get much of a childhood. Your teenage years are arguably the most important years of your life. Another reason is that if you become an adult at the age of 12, that means you have a lot of responsibilities at a young age. There are also two reasons why being an adult at the age of 12 is a good thing. One is that it would make you fit in as a member of the community. Also, you would be treated with more respect. Who doesn't like respect? In conclusion, being an adult at the age of 12 would be good and bad.

  15. If I had the choice to be considered an adult at age twelve, I would not do it. By doing this, I would gain privileges like getting a job and owning property. I would loose all of the memories I would've had when I am ages twelve through eighteen and my life would feel more rushed. Because of these reasons, I would not like to be considered an adult at twelve.

  16. If i had the choice to be and adult at age 12 i would not do it. If you did do this you would gain more respect, also you get more freedom. You can do more things. You would lose some stuff to. You would be helped as much. Also your childhood would be over so you could not go outside and play. This is why i would not become an adult at 12.
