Pd. 5- Time Travel Decision

If you woke up in the distant future, would you want to remain there or return to your own time? Why?

  1. If I woke up in the distant future I wouldn't want to remain there and would like to return to my own time. I choose returning back because I don't want to see what will happen in the future. I rather not spoil the future for the people in the present and I don't want to tell the people in the future "history" about the time I lived in. Plus I wouldn't really fit in with the people because they will have their own futuristic wardrobe and I'll have some shorts and a t-shirt. Also in the future there could be bad things that happened to the world such as massive global warming and everyone will have to wear cooling robot suits. I won't feel comfortable wearing a a robotic suit all day as it would be annoying and clunky. Plus I am happy with life in the present time and haven't even gotten anywhere near twenty years of my life. This is why I would prefer to return to the present time if I had woke up in the distant future.

  2. If I awoke in the distant future I would certainly return to my own time for multiple reasons. For one my leaving our present timeline would create a paradox or an erasing of everything that I have done or influenced. in the past there would be people I am familiar with and have contact with while none of that exists in the distance future. Finally in the present I know people, technology, war, and everything that occurs while in the future it would be pointless. With that stated I would rather return to my own timeline than stay in the future.

  3. I would want to go back to my own time because I would want to go back to what is normal for me. Also I would want to go back because I would miss a lot of things such as life, family and friends. That is why I would want to go back to my own time.

  4. If I woke up in the distant future, I would want to go back to my time. This is because even if the future is great, I would miss my friends and family to much to stay there. I would not put my parents through that. Sleeping for so long only to wake up when they are dead or have given up hope that I would get up. That would also make me very sad having to live out the rest of my days without them.I would also most likely be behind on times. That would be horribly embarrassing to wear what you were wearing when you fell asleep. What if there is new things invented and you can not use them. Then you can not do anything that you need to do. You would need to ask everyone for help and some people would be too embarrassed to do so. Finally, I would just like to be around things that are familiar. I do no like things that are new. I prefer the same old routine over and over again. I don't do well with that much change. Therefore, I would go back to my own time.

  5. If I woke up in the distance future, I would want to return to my own time. I say this because in the future, no one would know who I am and I wouldn't have any friends or family. Also, in the future things may be different, and I wouldn't be use to those things. For example, if in the future people eat different foods, and I don't even like the food because I'm use to it then I would have a hard time wanting to stay there. Another example is what if in the future the economy is really bad or something bad is happening. Maybe there is a war or a sudden spread of disease then I'm sure I wouldn't want to be there. Plus, I wouldn't have any parents in the future. Without parents I wouldn't have a place to live or food to eat, so I couldn't really even stay in the future. In conclusion, I would not want to travel to the future and stay there.

  6. I would want to return to my own time if I woke up in the future. I would want to do this because then maybe in the present day my family and friends wouldn't recognize me or even have passed away. So instead I would want to return in order to be with them.

  7. If I woke up in the distant future, I would choose to return to my own time. I would want to return to my own time because I would feel out of place in the future, and it would just make me feel uncomfortable. Another reason why I would want to return to my own time is to see my friends and family that are much younger, instead of seeing an older version of them. A third reason as to why I would want to return to my own time is that I could go back in time and live though the time that I had missed while i was sleeping. Those are some reasons as to why I would want to return to my own time.

  8. If I woke up in the distant future, I would like to return to my own time. I would like to return to my own time because I would like to see what changes have occurred in the present so I could prepare for the future. If I woke up in the distant future, I wouldn't know what changes have been made and I wouldn't know how to adapt that present lifestyle. Therefore, I would like to return to my own time.

  9. If I woke up in the distant future I would return to my own time because I wouldn't know anyone in the future. Most of the people I knew wouldn't be there and I wouldn't have anywhere to go. The world would be so different and I would be behind on everything happening so it would almost be like having to start a whole different life. In my own time at least I would know how everything worked and the people around me.

  10. If I woke up in the distant future I would want to return back to my own time. This is because I wouldn't be informed about all of the advances in society and technology. I would need to find my family, but what if they aren't living anymore. I would not want to hear bad news. Society might have changed. For example, just nodding your head at someone to say hello might not be something people of that time do. You might not even know what day it was. Life would be very confusing.

  11. If I woke up in the distant future, I would return to my own time because the future must have developed some new things and devices which I would most likely not understand; new inventions must have been made and I would not adapt to it so easily unlike now in my time where I know how to use everything. Also, I would rather live through everything and experience it rather than skipping past the present to the future where I would not have any memories of the time I had not been there in my life; I would want to experience everything - good or bad moments - because part of life is learning new things. If I had just skipped to the future, that would mean I would be older and slipped past through a huge portion of my life; I most definitely do not want that to happen. Lastly, in the present, I would be living through everything, I would understand the choices I make and why I make them. If I had just woke up and found myself in the future, I would not understand why I made the choices that shaped out my future.

  12. If I woke up in the distant future, I would want to return to my own time instead of remaining there. I would have lost all of my friends and family because they would be in my time period. I wouldn't want to loose my family or friends for anything. I also would be foreign to what was going on if I stayed in the distant future. For example, if someone from the early 1900's woke up in our time, they wouldn't know which end was up. Everywhere you look, there are people walking with smartphones, iPads, iPods, etc. Who knows what they would think. All I know is that I wouldn't want that to happen to me. Lastly, I wouldn't have a place to live! If all of my family and friends were back in our present day, I would be all alone in the future, and at thriteen years old, it would most likely be extremely hard to find a place to live. I know I would definitely want to go back if I woke up in the distant future.

  13. If I woke up in the distant future, I wouldn't want to stay there because, while the new tech would be nice and all of the new, interesting facts I could learn from the history books (like what happened in the year 2020, or a time that would be the future for 2013), I'd have to abandon my friends and family, which I would never do ever. Not for anything in the world.

  14. If I were to wake up in the distant future i would want to return to my own time. If I stayed in the future I would miss everything that would happen if I go back to my own time. I could miss some really great things that I could only experience in my own time. Even though I could go through some bad times I would learn from them. Also if I stayed in the future and it was anything like in movies then I could alter the rest of my future. If that happens then I may not have as good of a future as I would if I had returned back to my own time. I think we should just live our lives the way it’s supposed to be lived and not alter our future. Trying to alter our futures could turn out the opposite of how we plan and hurt us.

  15. If I woke up in the distant future, I would want to get back to my own time. I would want this because I definitely do not want to grow up that fast. I think that I would rather stay back and live a few years than skip ahead to later. As you get older, you start to realize that you don't want to actually grow up that fast like you did five years ago. So if I woke up in the future, I definitely would want come back. Also, I wouldn't want to find out some things that happen in my life in the future. I'd rather live in the present and wait until they happen. Therefore, if I ever wake up in the future, I definitely would want to come back to now.

  16. If I woke up in the distant future, I would return to my own time. I would make this decision because I wouldn't want to know mt future without experiencing it first. I wouldn't want to miss a portion of my life whether it was a good time or a bad time. Your experiences make you who you are so I would rather go back to my own time than stayvin the future

  17. If I woke up in the distant future, I would want to return to my past. The reason behind that is that I may have missed so much, and I would miss the times before. Many things in life you may not see again, and because of that, people want to live life to the fullest. Which in turn would make me want to go back, because I might have missed many experiences that could add on to what I know, and therefore that would drive me to go back to the time I was living in before.

  18. If I were to wake up in the distant future, I would want to return to my own time. In my own time, I had already spent thirteen years creating a life I enjoy, finding my true friends, and adapting to the world around me. If I were to wake up in the distant future, I would basically have to start completely over. I would have to find new friends and adapt to my surroundings again. This would be much unnecessary work, as I have already done this back in my own time. Also, if I were to awake in the distant future, I would miss all of my family and friends from my own time. Therefore, if I were to wake up in the distant future, i would want to return to my own time.

  19. If I woke up in the distant future I would want to return to my own time. I would want to return to my own time because I wouldn’t want to mess anything up. One of my biggest beliefs in life is to make do with whatever you have, and that it’s up to you to make a change in your life. To skip to the future rather than enjoying the ride is almost like cheating; according to my beliefs. It was Robert Frost that said, “The best way out is always through.” I think this is applicable because you can’t simply get out of the rough patches in your life, you must get through them. Even though there are many hardships and and an immense amount of time in between you and your future, but you also acquire many life lessons along the way. That, I think is the beauty of it all. Conclusively, I would like to return to my own time, because I would be missing so much of the life I already know and cherish.

  20. If somehow, I were to wake up in the distant future, I wouldn’t know what to do. I wouldn’t know anything about what is going on in the world at that time or how to fit into it. I would much rather return to my own time where I do know those things. In the future there would be a lot of things that would be different from my own time. For example, there would be new and more advanced technology along with different ways of doing some things. I would have to learn to adapt to these new things which would probably take a lot of time. It would be a lot easier to return to my own time where I would be able to adapt to these things gradually like everyone else. I fit in with everyone else in my own time, but in the future I wouldn’t really fit in. Also, even if I were to wake up in the distant future, but be the same age as I was when I had fallen asleep the day before in my own time, I would have still missed all the events that occurred between those two points in time. For example, I would miss my family members’ birthdays, holidays with my family, and other important events like those. You can’t just go back in time to those events once they have passed, and I wouldn’t want to miss them. Therefore, I would much rather return to my own time instead of staying in the distant future. I believe that if you are given the chance to skip the present time, and continue life in the distant future, you shouldn’t take that opportunity. It is better to live life in the present instead of skipping to the future.

  21. If I woke up in the distant future I would want to stay there but also return to my own time. I would want to both for various reasons. I would want to stay there because you get to explore the new technology if any and you would e able to compare your time to the distant future. Also, it may lead to a better life! I would also want to return to my own time because you would basically outgrow all of your friends. They would maybe already pass, and you be left by yourself. You will most likely be the odd one out and the on who has to earn everything new, and you will take time to get used to everything. Also, if that was me, I would feel really out of place and uncomfortable.

  22. If I woke up in the distant future I would choose to return to my own time. This is due to the fact that I would not know anybody there and there technology would probably be way different. I would have no family, no money, no job, no house, and no means to survive making the future a drag. Finally I would not want to start from scratch in a completely new society. In total I would choose to return to our current timeline than stay in a future with nothing for me.
