  1. Hi! My goals for this year are to read, read, and read! I want to read the Divergent and Hunger Games series. For now, I guess I could steal my twin sister's copy of the first and second Divergent books. The obstacles I can already see are that we are reading the Diary of Anne Frank. I read the book in sixth grade, and it got so boring after about a couple months of entries. I hope that maybe class discussions will keep me interested.

  2. As an eighth grader, I have set many goals for myself. One of my goals is to get all straight A’s in all of my academic classes, including my midterm and final exams. Another one of my goals is to take more notes because I know that not all of my teachers in eighth grade and high school are going to just hand me notes for every lesson. To reach my goals, I can work hard in school. I can also study more, take notes, and put school first before all of the other activities I have to do. I need to start learning the difference between notes that are worth writing down and notes that aren’t important so that I can study the right material. What may become a challenge for me as I get farther into the school year is studying for all of the tests and quizzes that will get thrown at me. Also, as I get more homework, especially in Mr. Ellis’s classroom, I will have a hard time getting my homework done before I have to go to a softball game or practice, for I am on two softball teams. I also have to practice my violin every day. I am excited to see how my eighth grade year goes.

  3. My goals are to learn new words and better grammar this year. This way I can learn new ways to describe things and make sure my writing is correct. I can make sure to pay attention in your class and try my best to make this happen. I cannot think of any obstacles that would prevent me from reaching my goal.

  4. This year in 8th grade, I hope to keep up with my goals all year, and not give up on them. In 8th grade, I'm hoping not to procrastinate as much as I normally do. In my classes, I normally wait until the last couple days to study for midterms, finals or any other big test, and I end up staying up late at night trying to study all of my notes. This year, I hope to be more organized and study a hour everyday before any big test, so I can do well, and be relaxed about it the night before. Not procrastinating can be hard for me, as I have activities out of school I have to go to which can get in the way of my studying time. Also, my parents work full time, and in times when I need their help, I have to wait until they are home, which can sometimes hold me back. Another goal I'm setting for 8th grade is to not get distracted when I'm doing my homework or studying. I always tend to get distracted by my phone, or anything that is really around me. This year I hope to focus on my work, put away my phone, and be in a place with absolutely no distractions, so I can get my work done faster. It may be hard, because I do get distracted very easy. I hope to follow my goals for the year all the way through, and I believe if i try I can have a very successful school year!

  5. My goals of this year are to be able to manage my time wisely and be able to complete all my assignments. I would also like expand my vocabulary and reading skills. I can complete these goals by planing ahead and reading more often. Some obstacles I might run into this year might be my study habits. In prior years, I have not studied often and I would like to change that so I can perform better on tests and quizzes.

  6. My goals for this year is to improve my handwriting and get better at spelling and reading. My reading skill is already pretty good, but there is always room for improvement. I would very much like to start writing neater because it has always been a struggle for me to write neat and would like to improve it. Another problem I have is misspelling words and I need to improve it.
I can start now with writing neater on a daily basis in other classes, Social Studies, Math, Spanish, etc.. To start improving my reading skill I can start by reading at home. To improve my spelling I can start with spelling out random words.
Something that may stop me from completing my goal is me maybe giving up on my goals. What I usually tend to do is give up on some goals, but I am hoping this year will be different. :)

  7. One of my goals is to be part of the medical field. Two careers I am considering are physical therapy or a nurse practitioner. In the future I want to learn to speak Italian and visit Abruzzo and Molise Italy. I want to go there because those are the regions that my family is from. To reach my career goals I need to keep up my grades and do some more research on my career options. One obstacle I do see is not being able to choose between physical therapy and becoming a nurse practitioner in time.

  8. This year I have one main goal to achieve. My goal is keeping a 94 and above average for all my academic classes for all four marking periods and receiving four high honor rolls in a row. Things that I will start doing to achieve this goal is giving full attention in class, taking notes, studying, and working to my best of abilities. Some obstacles I foresee are things like procrastination or not studying as much. However this year I am determined to overcome these obstacles and fulfill my goal. That is my one main goal this year.

  10. My goals are to have good grades and to stay friends with my best friends. Things I could star doing now are studying for tests, and to keep talking to my friends. There are plenty of obstacles that could get in the way. I could be lazy and not want to study for the content needed, or the content may be to hard. For my friends I might not be able to talk and hang out.
